and pianist/soloist Marie Haddad for our "Second Fridays" artist reception
July 11th, 2008
5:30 P.M.TO 7:30 P.M.
Beverages and snacks will be served.

Cindie Wolf is a self-taught photographer, who carries a camera almost everywhere she goes, trying to capture the "Moments" that are often lived through.  Her love of the mountains and rural country are usually portrayed in her photographs, highlighting places such as Parker Ranch, Laupahoehoe, Mt. Maunea Kea (all in Hawaii), and Julian, although in Hawaii every sunset is a great photograph!  Her favorite subjects are her family, especially her 3 grandsons.  She is an avid rower, belonging to the San Diego Rowing Club and often takes photographs of the teams on the water.   Cindie loves the freedom of digital photography and the creativity of "playing" with Photoshop to change and enhance the photographs.  Cindie can usually be found at the San Diego Airport, Terminal 2, waiting for Hawaiian Airlines Row 13 Seat B.

Cynthia Hedgecock is a self taught photographer, who became interested in photography early in life.  As digital photography has improved, so has her aspiration to improve her skill. Married to award winning KOGO radio host Roger Hedgecock, Cindy has had opportunities to take photographs around the world, most recently in the Galapagos Islands and in Peru, including Machu Picchu.  She has also enjoyed photographing the pelicans and great blue herons in La Jolla and Mission Bay,and taking photographs of her two sons surfing and her new grandson growing up. Cindy was inspired and taught to "see through the lens" by her mother, Joan Coverdale, a photographer, poet, and weaver, whose book I Share This Marsh was instrumental in preserving Upper Newport Bay as a thriving estuary. A former high school special education teacher, retail stock broker at Merrill Lynch, and condominium management consultant, Cindy now balances her photography with demands as business manager for her husband's media interests, property management, and time to be Grammy to Nathaniel.

Marie Haddad will be joining us for both the 2nd Fridays and Alley Cat Art Walk events (11th and 12th)

Marie started playing piano at the age of 5 but quit formal training at 11 because her attention span required constant breaks for cartwheels. After playing in various San Diego bands (everything from a mall houseband to a Xanadu cover project), she joined 12 piece 60's soul outfit the San Diego Beat Organization. The group was nominated as Best New Band at the 2002 San Diego Music Awards. Her compositions have a balance of emotion, virtuoso playing, innocence and cleverness that is rarely found in solo piano playing vocalists. Her live set is littered with unpretentious piano reworkings of everything from Johnny Cash to new wave classics. Marie's website is www.mariehaddad.com
